Beginning the Conversation

Reaching out for academic or college guidance often comes at a moment of uncertainty—for students, for families, or for both. This page is designed to help you understand what the first steps look like and whether working together feels right.

Step 1: Initial Inquiry

Families begin by reaching out by emailing me a brief description of:

  • The student’s grade level and academic program
  • What the student is currently navigating
  • What kind of support they are seeking

You do not need to have everything figured out to begin.

Step 2: Introductory Conversation

We will schedule an initial conversation to:

  • Learn more about the student
  • Clarify goals and concerns
  • Discuss how support might be structured
  • Determine whether working together is a good fit

This conversation is exploratory and collaborative. It is an opportunity to ask questions and to ensure expectations are aligned.

Step 3: Next Steps

If we decide to move forward, I will recommend an appropriate structure for support, which may include:

  • A short-term coaching plan
  • Ongoing academic or college guidance
  • IB-specific support where relevant

Details regarding scope of work, scheduling, and fees will be shared clearly before any commitment is made.

A Note on Timing

While some families reach out during the college application years, others begin earlier. Thoughtful planning often reduces stress later, but meaningful support can happen at many points along a student’s journey.

If you are unsure whether now is the right time, I am happy to help you think that through.

An Invitation

Choosing support for a student is a significant decision. I invite families who are seeking a reflective, ethical, and student-centered approach to reach out and begin the conversation.
